About Us
In 2006, Spoiled Acres Rescue Incorporated was born. The idea was to help horses and large animals that could not be helped through Dearborn County Animal Shelter.
By-laws were written and the idea turned into a real organization in 2007. By mid-2007, the 501(c)3 paperwork was back and Spoiled Acres Rescue Incorporated was official.
We have serviced people from all areas of the county. We are here to help people who are unable to care for their animals anymore.
The goal is to make sure that all animals are cared for appropriately.
There are no other known large animal rescues in the county.
Spoiled Acres Rescue Incorporated had a very busy 2008. We had a lot more animals come through the facility than planned.
This caused some extra expenses. We were able to assist 16 horses, 15 dogs and numerous cats.
Without our assistance, these horses would be dead or abandoned somewhere.
2009 looks like it will be even busier. We are seeing a major increase due to the economy. Taken in 5 horses and 4 goats. We have also assisted in placing
2 other horses. Due to this increase, we are also strained in the economy.
Dearborn County Animal Shelter is not equipped to handle the horses, so there would have been no where for people to take them.
Not only did we take them in, but we were also able to place most of them in forever homes.
We still have three that are up for adoption. We also still have 5 that will always be here to welcome the new horses.
